Occupations and Hobbies
I work for a good cause... 'cause I need the money. Work is a way of life. Whether you're a professional or a tradesman, we have to make a living. But then in the evening and on weekends, we try to find some time for ourselves. Here are a few of the ways people have chosen to keep their bills paid and relax with their hobbies. You can "mouse over" the images to see some detail about the subject. By the way, Statistics say we work the first three hours of every day just to pay our taxes. I guess that's why nothing gets done in the morning... we're government employees.
This is a 3 figure package, two doctors and nurse
with a bedpan. The other doctor is holding a super
size pill (or suppository) behind his back while this
one has a once-a-year king size shot for you. $3.00
You don't see an old upright bass very often anymore
but here's one for your jazz combo or, by changing
the way he's dressed, a blugrass band. $3.00
Traffic control is his specialty. If you know a police
officer who is assigned to traffic, carve him (or her)
one of these to show your appreciation for what
they do. $3.00
I've never seen a horn like the one he is playing
but who's to say a clown has to do anything in
the conventional way? Another fun project and
this one can challenge your carving skills when
you work around his hands and horn. $4.00
Meet the boss. He spends most of his time watching
his employees to make sure he's getting more than
his money's worth. This is another pattern where
changing the expression on his face can change
the meaning of the carving. $3.00
Violin or fiddle? Classic or country? The choice is
yours as you decide what to have him wearing. $3.00
"Call me!" You could replace the call me sign with
a phone in his hand or even do some adjusting to
the pattern, add a skirt, give him long hair and he
becomes a she. Always give some thought to how
you might change a patern to make the project
uniquely yours. $3.00
Her Majesty's finest. This little English "Bobbie" is
a pretty basic figure and not too difficult to carve
though the hands behind his back will challenge
you. Of course, with a little pattern adjustment
you could put his hands in his pockets. $3.00
Every jazz combo needs a clarinet player. Add
this figure to a group carving of your favorite
musicians. $3.00
Know a saxaphone player? Are you one? Carve him as
part of a group. You could even adjust this pattern
so that he is playing some other instrument. $3.00
Treetop is his name. Because he's walking on
stilts you can make him as tall as you like by
extending the height of the pattern. $3.00
No recreational list would be complete without
including a woodcarver. All you have to decide
is what to have him working on. $3.00
It's pill time but swallowing a pill the size of
the one this nurse is holding could be a real
challenge. $3.00
He makes unicycle riding look so easy. When
carving clown figures be sure to dress them in
baggy clothing and bright colors. $3.00
This trumpet player could be carved as a single
figure or make him part of a jazz combo. You
could even make some adjustments to the pattern
and have him playing a trombone. $3.00
Mr. Chef is sharpening a knife while Mrs. Chef
holds a stirring spoon. Both patterns are
included. $3.00
This clown is up in the air... really. His helium
filled balloons have him riding the air currents.
How it's done is shown on the pattern. $3.00
Wall Street Woes... the market dipped and his
pockets got lighter. If the market recovers you
can make him smile while dollar bills fall from
his pockets. $3.00
The folk music era of the 60s had a lot of
coffee house singers like this fellow sitting
on a stool (or wherever you want him to sit)
expressing his thoughts in song $3.00
Remember the organ grinder with his
coin collecting monkey? The monkey
pattern is included. I had the monkey
sitting on his hat but it could be placed
anywhere. $3.00
