Sports patterns

Sports often take up a major portion of our recrecational time. We hunt, fish, play tennis, golf and bowl but it doesn't stop there. Like the sport's fan below, we enjoy watching other folk indulge in the sport of their choice. Here is a selection of activities you may have participated in. Choose your favorite and personalize it with your favorite team's colors or emblems. "Mouse over" any of the images for a few details about the pattern.

She's a "scratch golfer" in the truest sense of
the word. She is one of my workshop's most
popular projects. Could it be I get a lot of
dirty old men in my classes? Not really... she's
just a project that gets a lot of laughs. $3.00

Without this fellow, there'd be no support for
the sports. He loves his favorite teams. Win
or lose, no matter what the weather, he'll be in
the stands to cheer them on as he enjoys his
dogs and a brew or two... or three. A fun project
to display with your sport figure carvings. $3.00

His friends call him a wildlife population control
expert. His wife calls him "Stranger". The pattern
also includes what he's taking aim at... a couple
innocent looking small game critters with white
flags and their tiny hands in the air. Of course you
can decide what his target is. Don't feel you have
to carve every project just like the pattern. $3.00

Here's a Friday night, beer frame split picker
who bowls for exercise (at least that's what
he tells his wife). The pattern for a female
version is also included. As with most sports
patterns, personalize your project to make
it a unique, one of a kind carving. $4.00

He used to play baseball then took up golf. It
kind of shows in his swing. No matter, he
enjoys the game. If you wanted to, as an option
you could make him a baseball hitter. As with
any pattern, think of changes you can make
to create something different. $3.00

I call him Happy Hookenslyce, everybody's favorite
caddie or golfer, if you prefer. Shoots in the low
80s but that's on the front nine. Make sure you use
bright colors when you paint his clothing... isn't
that what a golfer is supposed to wear? $3.00

He's a power hitter but, alas, this time the mighty
Casey has struck out... or has he? The expression
you put on his face can tell the story. Put your
favorite team's colors on this action figure along
with his (or your) player's number. $3.00

Tennis anyone? A lot of action here because of
the off-balance pose of the figure but don't let
that frighten you. Even complex figures can be
carved if you take them one small step at a time.
Because of the pose she is not free standing and
would have to be mounted on a base. $4.00

Only seventeen miles to go. If you know a marathon
runner this could be a special award when you
personalize it with her (or his, if you carve it as
a male runner) color and style shirt and shorts.
Don't forget to give your carving the proper hair
style and color too. $3.00

Technology has come to the links. This golfer
is using his laptop computer to plan his next
move... what club to use according to the
distance, wind direction and the condition of
the fairway. $3.00

What is his catch of the day? You're given
several options for what to put on his stringer.
Carve several for your fishing buddies and
use a variety of facial expressions to show
what kind of day they've had. $3.00

He's called a "Footer", a barefoot water
skier, but you can add skies or a board
if you prefer. The expression you put
on his face will reveal if he's having a
great time or about to wipe out. $3.00
