In caricature carving an individual's physical features are exaggerated slightly to create a humorous yet recognizable representation.  Caricature carvings not only make a unique and special gift but are excellent for awards since they are truly one of a kind and personalized for the recipient.  Something more than just another trophy to put in a display case.

Using your photographs and/or a VHS videotape Ol' Don will carve the subject of your choice as a bottle stopper, a bust or a full figure caricature.  The bottle stoppers and busts are 4"-5" tall, the full figures are 9"-10" tall.  The size of the head on the full figure is exaggerated and approximately 2" tall making it more visible.  You can see some examples of Ol' Don's caricature carvings in THE GALLERY, as well as on the SHOWCASE page.

To create your special caricature carving several photographs or a videotape showing the front, profile, 3/4 front and back views of the subject are the minimum requirement.  The more reference material that is available, the more accurate the representation will be.   Videotapes often capture an individual's personality traits which are not evident in photographs.  For a full figure carving additional information about the subject's interests, hobbies, sport or recreational activities is required to develop a suitable pose for the carving.

Finished commissions are delivered with a "Diary of a Carving" photo sheet showing the creation of your carving. A typical sample is shown below:

The custom carved caricature bottle stoppers or busts are $45.00 (US funds) and the full figure caricatures are $195.00 to $295.00 (US funds) depending upon the complexity of the pose .  Reference materials and your finished carving are sent priority mail when completed and your payment will not be deposited until your carving is finished and ready for mailing.  Please allow 6 to 8 weeks for the creation of your special carving.  To order send your reference materials, the type of carving desired and your check or money order to:
