It has always been Ol' Don's pleasure to provide original art for folk and encourage their creativity with patterns of subjects meaningful to them.
Each pattern collection, now on CD, is created with common theme. For each major project (most CDs contain at least 5 major subjects) there are three pattern drawings (front, profile and top) plus reference sketches. The number of secondary subjects on each CD varies according to the number of detailed drawings required for the individual subjects. CDs of uncomplicated projects contain a greater variety of patterns while complex subjects require more "close-up" and reference view drawings. Although he occasionally makes reference to carving techniques, these are not carving instruction manuals. There are no step by step instructions. This allows each carver to develop the subject in the style of carving with which he or she is most comfortable.
